Water Safety

Fifty one per cent of children leave primary school unable to swim, whilst more than 400 people drown in the UK each year and thousands of others experience near-drowning incidents.  Drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death in children in the UK.  Splash ‘n’ Swim recommends clicking on these links: www.drowningpreventionweek.org.uk and www.rlss.org.uk, both are run by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK.  The first link is very child/school orientated and concentrates solely on drowning prevention where as the second link covers every imaginable water safety topic e.g. flood safety and lifesaving sport.
